Charity F. McConnell, M.D.
Dr. Charity Foster McConnell joined Franklin Dermatology Group in August of 2001. She became the first full partner to join the founders of the practice, Drs. Dana and Paul Latour, in 2003.
A native Tennessean, Dr. McConnell grew up in Lexington, a small town in western Tennessee. As an undergraduate, she attended Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1992 with a B.S. in Molecular Biology.
Dr. McConnell met her future husband, Bill McConnell, while in college at Vanderbilt and they married in 1995. She attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, graduating third in her class in 1996, and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. McConnell was an internal medicine resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for two years from 1996-1998, at which point she realized that her true “calling” was dermatology. In order to realize that “calling”, she and her husband moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for her to receive her dermatology residency training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (Bowman Gray Campus) from 1998-2001.
Dr. McConnell enjoys all aspects of dermatology, including medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She prides herself on thorough, high-quality care for patients of all ages. In addition, her practice philosophy is to make every patient feel important and that their voices are being heard.
Dr. McConnell is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and also enjoys being a member in several medical and professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Nashville Dermatology Society, Tennessee Women in Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the Tennessee Medical Association.
Dr. McConnell resides in Brentwood with her husband, Bill, and their son, Foster. Away from work, Dr. McConnell’s first priority has always been spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys interior design and travel.
Eva R. Parker, M.D.
Dr. Eva Rawlings Parker joined Franklin Dermatology Group in 2010, becoming a full partner the following year. A native of Joelton, Tennessee, Dr. Parker attended high school at Harpeth Hall. As an undergraduate at the University of Denver, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Environmental Science. She then attended medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, graduating in 2002 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After completing a one-year internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Dr. Parker moved to Chicago to complete her residency in dermatology at Northwestern University.
After residency, Dr. Parker practiced in the Chicago-area at Loyola University Medical Center, where she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Associate Director of the Dermatology Residency Training Program, and Director of the Inpatient Dermatology Consultation Service. During this time, Dr. Parker was also very active in the dermatology community, volunteering her time to teach residents, serving as Chair of the Scientific Committee for the Chicago Dermatological Society, and authoring articles for medical journals and patient-oriented publications. Dr. Parker then transitioned into private-practice at Southwest Dermatology in Orland Park, Illinois. In 2010, she and her husband happily moved back to Tennessee to be closer to their families.
Dr. Parker is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is President of the Nashville Dermatology Society. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Tennessee Medical Association, and American Medical Association. Her practice philosophy centers around comprehensive dermatological care with an emphasis on patient education. Her medical interests include skin cancer detection and surgery, pediatric and geriatric dermatology, skin manifestations of internal disease, psoriasis, and acne. Additionally, Dr. Parker also combines her medical knowledge with an artful eye in providing cosmetic services to her patients including Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapy — tools she uses to rejuvenate her patients with natural-looking results. Since joining the medical community in Middle Tennessee, Dr. Parker has continued to author articles in medical journals and has contributed to the “Ask an Expert” column in the Tennessean. In 2013, she was honored in the Toast of Music City in the “Best Dermatologist” category.
Dr. Parker lives in Brentwood with her husband, Stephen, a Brentwood, Tennessee native. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her rescued racing greyhounds. Dr. Parker is also a passionate hockey fan who also enjoys travel, cooking, and gardening. She and her husband are proud supporters of several local charities including Best Buddies of Tennessee and Greyhound Pets of America.
Karen C. Broussard, M.D.
Dr. Karen Chen Broussard joined Franklin Dermatology Group in 2015. She is originally from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. As an undergraduate at Yale University, Dr. Broussard was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Honor Society and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. She then attended medical school at Vanderbilt University where she conducted clinical research in numerous fields of study, including dermatology. Dr. Broussard completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Emory University prior to her residency training in Dermatology at Vanderbilt University where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
Dr. Broussard is passionate about the field of dermatology and values establishing a close doctor-patient relationship in order to provide the highest quality care for her patients. She practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Broussard is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Nashville Dermatology Society, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Broussard resides in Franklin with her husband and their two children. She enjoys running, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Lesley L. Starnes, M.D.
Lesley Littrell Starnes joined Franklin Dermatology Group in August of 2017. A native of Middle Tennessee, Dr. Starnes is originally from Waverly. As an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Dr. Starnes was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2006. She then attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in her third year and graduated summa cum laude in 2010.
Dr. Starnes completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where she remained to complete her residency in dermatology, serving as Chief Resident her final year. After residency, Dr. Starnes practiced in Jackson, Tennessee with the Jackson Clinic, PA for three years before moving to be closer to family and joining Franklin Dermatology Group in 2017.
Dr. Starnes discovered her passion for dermatology as a fourth year medical student and has never looked back. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and practicing the full spectrum of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Starnes strives to provide compassionate, high-quality dermatologic care centered around the individual patient with a focus on effective communication and patient education.
Dr. Starnes is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She also enjoys membership in the Nashville Dermatology Society and Tennessee Dermatology Society.
Dr. Starnes resides in Brentwood with her husband, Chris, and their three children, Isaiah, Leah, and Ella. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and Volunteer football.
Our Nurse Practitioners
Nikki Wood, APRN-BC
Nikki Wood joined Franklin Dermatology Group in 2015. A native of West Texas, Nikki grew up in a small farming community. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University, she received her master’s degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2000. While there, she was awarded “Most Outstanding Student” in her specialty program.
Nikki is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has received specialty training in medical dermatology, laser surgery, and cosmetic injections of neurotoxins and fillers. She is interested in all aspects of dermatology and especially enjoys helping others to feel positive toward the appearance of their skin.
Nikki resides in Franklin with her husband and daughter. She loves volunteering as a girl scout troop leader, reading and traveling.
Emily T. Stewart, N.P.
Emily Stewart joined Franklin Dermatology Group in October 2009. Born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky, she received her Bachelor’s degree in science and nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2001. After graduation, Emily relocated to Nashville and gained experience as a cardiac nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Wanting to further her education, Emily decided to attend the family nurse practitioner program at Belmont University. She graduated with honors in 2005, and became a board certified family nurse practitioner. After having her first child, who suffers from eczema, Emily became very interested in the field of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, and the Dermatology Nurses Association’s Nurse Practitioner Society.
Emily resides in Brentwood with her husband, Brent, who manages his family-owned lumber business. They have two daughters, Gretta-Kate and Temple. Away from work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and UK basketball. Go Cats!
