Do Collagen Powders Make a Difference? A Dermatologist’s Perspective
As a dermatologist, I often encounter questions about various skincare trends, and one that frequently pops up is the use of collagen powders. With an
Patelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are gaining popularity for a variety of conditions. Generally speaking the treatment uses a patient’s own blood cells to accelerate healing in a specific area of the body.
At Franklin Dermatology Group we use PRP as a non-surgical alternative for treating female and male pattern hair loss. The treatment involves injections of your own blood platelets into the vascular layer of the scalp.
A special collection tube is used to draw your blood and is placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood sample to separate and concentrate the platelets. The concentrated platelets are drawn into a syringe and then strategically injected into the areas of your scalp that need improvement. There is little to no recovery time. The protocol requires a series of 3 treatments to start, and additional injections are recommended every 6-12 months to maintain results.
If you are interested in the treatment, please call us at (615) 771-1881 to schedule an assessment with one of our providers. Our offices are conveniently located in the heart of Cool Springs, Franklin, TN, just minutes from Brentwood and Nashville.
