Medi-Spa vs Day Spa – What’s the Difference?
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a medi-spa (also known as medical spa) and a day spa? While there is some overlap
Patelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are gaining popularity for a variety of conditions. Generally speaking the treatment uses a patient’s own blood cells to accelerate healing in a specific area of the body.
At Franklin Dermatology Group we use PRP as a non-surgical alternative for treating female and male pattern hair loss. The treatment involves injections of your own blood platelets into the vascular layer of the scalp.
A special collection tube is used to draw your blood and is placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood sample to separate and concentrate the platelets. The concentrated platelets are drawn up into a syringe and are then strategically injected into the areas of your scalp that need improvement. There is little to no recovery time. The protocol requires a series of 3 treatments to start, and then additional injections are recommended every 6-12 months to maintain results.
